The doctors of the Hemorrhoids Centers of Los Angeles (Beverly Hills, Newport Beach, and Huntington Beach) offer relief from bleeding and discomfort from hemorrhoids via Infrared Coagulation (IRC). IRC is a safe, fast, non-surgical and painless method. IRC is painless because the hemorrhoids are above the area of sensation in the anal canal called the dentate line, and therefore well-tolerated among patients. A small probe emitting infrared light leads to scar tissue formation, which cuts off all blood supply to the hemorrhoid. The entire procedure only takes about 5-10 minutes.

Infrared Coagulation (IRC) has quickly become one of the most widely used office treatments for hemorrhoids and is preferred over other methods because it is fast, well-tolerated by patients, and virtually problem-free. IRC is a medical procedure performed by the Proctologist, Dr. Maz, to treat small and medium-sized hemorrhoids and is not effective on large hemorrhoids.

Dr. Ghodsian is the best Proctologist in Los Angeles! I was able to book an appointment for an urgent matter, and he was able to see me within a very timely manner. He was absolutely attentive and listened to all my concerns, asked all of the necessary questions, did not jump to any conclusions, and knew exactly what the next step should be. Very thorough and all around amazing doctor. And his office is spectacular 🙂 Highly recommend!! ~ YELP

During the infrared coagulation (IRC) the doctor will use a device to apply an intense beam of laser-focused infrared light to treat your internal hemorrhoids. The heat created by the infrared light causes scar tissue which cuts off the blood supply to the hemorrhoid. Most patients will require 2-3 sessions of treatment to achieve optimal results.

There is minimal preparation required prior to IRC. It is very important that your physician’s instructions be followed carefully. The quality of the preparation can affect the doctor’s ability to successfully complete the procedure.

Will the Hemorrhoids Come Back?
Possibly, but experience shows that most hemorrhoids treated with IRC do not recur immediately. A sensible diet, moderate exercise and proper bowel habits, including avoiding straining, will help prevent a recurrence.
