The Hemorrhoids Centers of Los Angeles (Beverly Hills, Newport Beach, Bakersfield, and Huntington Beach locations) are spearheaded by Dr. Maz Ghodsian (a board member of the American Osteopathic College of Proctology), who specializes in anal skin tag removal. A skin tag can form on any part of your body but anal skin tags are most common around the anus when associated with hemorrhoids. Many people that suffer from constipation or IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) frequently get anal skin tags due to the tearing of anal fissures or pushing with bowel movements. Additionally, many women develop anal skin tags after pregnancy because their blood volume increases dramatically during pregnancy and stretching the skin around the anal opening, causing anal skin tags.
Some anal skin tags can cause various problems such as itching, soreness, and difficulty cleaning – in addition to causing self-confidence issues, especially during intimacy. If a skin tag starts to become painful or bleed (or if you are uncomfortable due to the appearance) then contacting the Hemorrhoid Centers of Los Angeles is right for you.
I saw Dr. Maz for the cosmetic treatment of my anal skin tags at his Huntington Beach Hemorrhoids Removal location. I was immediately greeted by his very friendly and warm front office staff. My wait time to see Dr. Maz was about 5 minutes from arriving for my appointment. Due to the nature of my issue, I was very shy to discuss it with Dr. Maz at first but I felt so comfortable with him once we met because he was so easy to talk to and had such a great sense of humor. Dr. Maz spent so much time with me during my consultation and went over both the surgical and non-surgical treatment options with me in detail. I never felt rushed during my appointments. I have done so much research before picking a surgeon to treat my anal skin tags. This is such a personal decision because it involves such an intimate part of my body during very intimate times of my life so it was very important to me to have an excellent cosmetic result. Dr. Maz is a surgeon with an amazing artistic eye. He has a wonderful bedside manner and made me feel like I was his only patient!!! My experience with Dr. Maz and his office was nothing short of First Class in every respect. I am so happy with how I look and I feel sexy once again!!!! Thanks Dr. Maz for making me look and feel beautiful again!!! ~ Vitals
Skin Tags & Hemorrhoids
As a hemorrhoid increases in size, it actually bulges into the anal canal and may eventually extend outward and protrude at the edge of one’s anus (prolapse). This type of hemorrhoid has the tendency to be associated with anal skin tags.
Anal skin tags are usually the remains of stretched skin arising from very large internal and external hemorrhoids.
Skin tags may also be the visual remains from a previous perianal thrombosis (thrombosed external hemorrhoid) – a painful and sensitive lump (similar to a blood blister) on the edge of the anal opening and is often mistaken for a prolapsed internal hemorrhoid.
Common Causes of Anal Skin Tags Include:
- Constipation: Stool becomes dehydrated and significantly harder due to constipation. Therefore passing the stool becomes difficult (oftentimes painful) and causes unnatural stress on the anal cavity, resulting in tearing anal fissures which can result in sentinel anal skin tags. The process of excessive pushing during a bowel movement will lead to increased intra-abdominal pressure or pressure inside the abdominal cavity, resulting in swollen hemorrhoids.
- Rectal Surgery: If you have had surgery in your rectum, then anal skin tags may form during the healing process.
- Childbirth: Sometimes anal fissures may occur during the natural childbirth process and leave a sentinel anal skin tag in place after the healing is complete.
- Anal Intercourse: If people participate in frequent anal sex without proper lubrication – anal skin tags may develop.
Anal Skin Tag Removal: Patients naturally dislike the appearance of anal skin tags as in many cases they already have been able to see their skin tags with the use of a mirror and some adept positioning.
Anal skin tags can also cause a hygiene issue when wiping after using the toilet. In addition, the presence or appearance of skin tags can cause confidence issues with partners.
Depending on your unique case, anal skin tag removal options include:
- Surgical and Non-Surgical treatment modalities
